Does My Teen Need Therapy?

Things to Consider in Adolescent Therapy

  • Are there stressors present? (divorce, separation, move, loss)
  • Has there been a significant mood change or increase in severity?
  • Is your teen self-medicating?
  • Degree of dysfunction
  • Degree of parental frustration

Please don’t feel like you have to make this decision alone. One of the most important things our teen counselors and therapists do is help parents make a step-by-step plan for the best plan of action moving forward. Our licensed professional counselors are trained and eager to work with your family to help you decide whether or not your teen can benefit from therapy. Ready to start? The Teenage Brain

The Teenage Brain

Adolescence is a time of many changes. Biologically, this is the time of puberty and “raging hormones.” Psychologically, this is a time of tremendous intellectual and cognitive growth best exemplified by the “know-it-all” teenager. Socially, during this time, teenagers are transitioning from operating predominantly within the social structure of the family system to venturing out on their own to discover and develop their own social niche in the world. Engaging in therapy during this pivotal stage can help with improved coping skills, easier emotional regulation, and stronger self-esteem.

She is an amazing young woman who has so much to share with others. Her road ahead will incur some bumps along the way, like everyone's road. However, she is in a much better place to be able to face those challenges and overcome them. Thanks again and keep up the great work, not just with my daughter, but for the countless others you walk alongside as they discover and live into wholeness and healing. ”
