Camryn Elswick
LCSWA
Camryn Elswick, LCSWA is originally from Eastern Kentucky and moved to North Carolina for school before making Wilmington her home. She works with children ages 6 and older, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on anxiety, anger, and relationship challenges. In session, Camryn is warm, playful, and calming.
Camryn believes therapy should be shaped around the person, not the other way around. She works collaboratively with each client to understand what they are experiencing and develop practical ways to navigate the challenges they are facing. Her approach draws from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play therapy.
Camryn works with children, adolescents, and adults, especially college students, experiencing anxiety, including excessive worry, overthinking, and fear of disappointing others. Anxiety can show up in many parts of daily life, from school pressures and friendships to family expectations and major life changes. She helps clients better understand what is behind their anxiety while building coping skills that can make stressful moments feel more manageable. Her approach gives clients space to talk openly about what is weighing on them without feeling rushed to have everything figured out.
Camryn helps adolescents and adults who are learning how to set healthy boundaries in friendships, family relationships, and romantic relationships. For clients who are used to putting others first, saying no or expressing what they need can bring guilt, worry, or fear of conflict. She helps clients recognize people pleasing patterns, practice communicating their needs, and develop greater confidence in making choices that feel right for them. Therapy can be a place to explore what healthy relationships look like while building the skills to navigate them with greater clarity and self trust.
Camryn works with children and adolescents who struggle with anger, frustration, and other big emotions. When emotions become overwhelming, it can be difficult to understand what is happening in the moment or communicate what is needed, especially in relationships with parents, siblings, and peers. She helps clients explore their emotional patterns, recognize triggers, and find healthier ways to express what they are feeling. With younger clients, she incorporates play therapy to make that process feel natural and comfortable while helping them build emotional regulation skills.
Fun Facts: Camryn is a huge Taylor Swift fan and was lucky enough to see the Eras Tour from the floor.
