Rhonda Benton, LCMHCA
Born and raised in North Carolina, Rhonda is happy to join our coastal crew in Wilmington, NC as a fully remote provider. Rhonda specializes in working with adolescents and adults experiencing grief and loss, trauma recovery, and depression. In sessions, Rhonda is known for her centered and creative approach that is both calming and reassuring.
Together with her clients, Rhonda crafts personalized paths to healing, blending evidence-based practices with creative expression. Her toolkit includes Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Bibliotherapy, and Narrative therapy with each tailored to resonate with the individual’s unique needs.
Rhonda specializes in working with adolescents and adults navigating grief and loss. Non-stop tears, refusal to talk, or irritable moods may follow the death of a loved one, and Rhonda knows how grief can feel like it has no end. Rhonda guides individuals from feeling consumed by their pain to living again.
Rhonda is passionate in working with teens and adults who have experienced trauma- particularly sexual trauma. Rhonda works with survivors of sexual trauma to release unresolved feelings of shame or guilt. She approaches trauma recovery with sensitivity and creativity, empowering clients to rebuild trust, and redefine strength after surviving life threatening events.
Rhonda excels in her work with individuals managing depression- especially teens. When you see your teen struggling to go to school, keep up with assignments, or participate in social activities, Rhonda is your first call to help make sense of your child’s sense of confusion, disconnect, and quiet your parental concerns. Through self-discovery, esteem building, and overcoming limiting beliefs, Rhonda helps individuals find their path forward.
Fun Fact: Rhonda is a licensed teacher and a Harry Potter fanatic- more importantly, a Gryffindor!
