Meet our Therapist Steve Tyndall

Steve Tyndall, LCSW

Steve Tyndall, LCSW

You'll find Steve Tyndall’s style to be positive, strengths-based, honest, no nonsense and supportive. His laugh is contagious and his sessions infused with compassion and humor. Steve is an LCSW and  has over 17 years of experience. He is a North Carolina native, born in Fayetteville, NC. He has also lived in the Pamlico County area for 20 years until moving  to Wilmington in 2015.

One of Steve's passions is working with couples. He has more than a decade of experience helping couples succeed. While his training allows him to tailor his approach to what fits his client's best he specializes in working with couples who have lost their 'connection’, couples who are fighting all the time, communication issues, affairs, and couples experiencing parenting stress. Steve believes intimate relationships challenge us in the right ways.  They makes us stronger and better as a person and as a partner.  His hope for his couples is to help them find a renewed sense of joy and connection in their relationship.

"Steve personalizes his substance abuse treatment services to meet each client's needs."

Steve has over 17 years working with individuals struggling with Substance Abuse.  In that time he has learned that when treating addiction or relapse there's no way to create a single plan that works for every client. That's why he personalizes his substance abuse treatment services to meet your exact needs.

Steve loves working with teenagers and their families to find happier and more peaceful lives.  He works well with a variety of teens but is especially passionate about working with oppositional, defiant, and  angry teens and their families.  He knows that raging hormones and transitioning to adulthood can be scary and that teens naturally test limits and press buttons. In his approach he helps teens and their families learn about their buttons and triggers so they can intervene early as well as understand what's behind their anger.  In addition, he often offers parenting coaching sessions to address family issues that often accompany these behaviors and help parents form a step by step plan to navigate these difficult issues.

He loves playing tennis though he claims to be a horrible tennis player. He also enjoys  fishing, particularly  salt or brackish water fishing.

Fun Fact: Steve loves to be outdoors and plays a mean game of disc golf.
