Preslee Sartain, LCMHCA

Preslee is a Mississippi native who is excited to call Wilmington home! Specializing in working with children and adolescents of all ages (3+), Preslee excels at helping youth who struggle with ADHD, emotional outbursts, and stressful family changes like separation and divorce.  Preslee’s vibe in session is bubbly, playful and curious.

Preslee utilizes a collaborative approach to develop a treatment plan that is specific to each of her client’s needs. She uses techniques from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Guidance,  and Play Therapy.

Preslee is skilled in working with children and teens who struggle with emotional outbursts, defiance, and reactions that quickly spiral at home or school. You may feel like every small request turns into a battle, nothing seems to calm things down, or the entire home is walking on eggshells. Preslee helps children better understand their emotions, respond more calmly when overwhelmed, and build healthier ways to handle frustration, anger, and stress.

Preslee specializes in supporting young children with ADHD who struggle with attention, listening, organization, and staying on task throughout the day. You may find yourself constantly repeating instructions, getting daily calls or notes from school, battling over homework, or wondering why simple routines feel exhausting for everyone involved. Preslee helps children build practical, age-appropriate strategies and routines to improve focus, manage impulses, stay more organized, and feel more confident in their ability to succeed.

Preslee is passionate about helping children and adolescents navigate stressful life events, especially family separation and divorce. You may feel like your child is struggling to keep it together lately. Bigger meltdowns, more anger, shutting down, trouble at school, constant worry, difficulty with transitions between homes, or acting like a completely different kid than they used to be. Preslee creates a supportive space where children can learn real life skills to handle big feelings, communicate what they need, adjust to change, and feel more confident and settled again.

Fun Fact: Preslee is an avid reader and a huge book lover!
