Jocelyn McSweeney, LCMHC
Jocelyn is a Wilmington, NC native who loves giving back to the community that helped shape her childhood. She specializes in working with adults, especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community and college-aged students, with grief and loss, relational conflict and boundary setting, and social anxieties. In sessions, Jocelyn is bubbly and connecting.
Jocelyn’s treatment foundation is evidence-based and customized to fit each client’s individual needs. She pulls from therapeutic techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also integrating elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Jocelyn is passionate in her support for adults experiencing grief and loss in all its forms. Whether you’re facing the death of a loved one, the loss of identity, community, or connection, Jocelyn understands how grief can feel invisible or hard to express. She offers a compassionate, trauma-informed space to honor your experience, explore meaning, and navigate healing at your own pace.
Jocelyn is skilled in supporting individuals navigating difficult, shifting relationships—whether with a partner, family member, friend, or coworker. If you’re facing graduation, the end of a relationship, or a career change, you might feel stuck between who you were and who you’re becoming amongst your community. In one-on-one sessions, Jocelyn provides a compassionate space to make sense of these moments of transformation, build communication and boundary skills, and strengthen your sense of self.
Jocelyn specializes in supporting adults overwhelmed by social anxiety– especially those coping with self-doubt and pressure to succeed. She understands how overthinking, people-pleasing, and anxiety in relationships, school, or work can feel isolating and exhausting. Jocelyn helps quiet your inner critic, build confidence, and create space for authentic connection and personal growth so you can say “yes” more often and engage with life on your terms.
