Heidi is a marine veteran from Illinois who now loves to call coastal Carolina home. Heidi specializes in working with both children and adults with a history of trauma and anxiety. She also specializes in working with couples. Heidi is a down-to-earth and grounded therapist, helping her clients feel at ease during session.
Heidi utilizes approaches from several evidence-based practices to customize her treatment to best fit her client’s needs. Heidi pulls from techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Somatic Therapy. She is also Level 1 Gottman Method trained, an evidence-based practice for couples therapy.
Heidi is passionate about working with individuals who have survived trauma. She helps people who have experienced trauma of all kinds, such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, combat-related trauma, and medical trauma. Individuals who have experienced trauma can feel constantly on-edge and stuck in fight or flight mode, making it hard to function at work or school, communicate effectively with others, and enjoy their lives. Heidi utilizes evidence-based practices from Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help her clients find peace and healing.
Heidi specializes in treating individuals experiencing anxiety, especially with those who are military members, veterans, and their families. As a veteran herself, Heidi has a unique understanding of the challenges that life during and after military service can bring. Heidi works with her clients using evidence-based practices to help them navigate the unexpected, cope with major changes, and find peace from constant worry thoughts. Heidi is skilled at helping couples reignite their connection and communication. She has experience and training in Gottman Relational Therapy Training, based on over forty years of research, and has a background in military and veteran life dynamics. Heidi is keen to the unique issues these life experiences bring forth in building a healthy, happy relationship and family. Heidi’s warm and patient presence helps couples enrich conversation, resolve conflicts effectively, and build deeper emotional intimacy.
