Emily is originally from New York, but has found a sense of home here in the Wilmington, NC community. Emily specializes in providing gender-affirming care to LGBTQIA+ individuals working with teens and adults as they recover from trauma, explore their identities and body image, and manage chronic depression. In sessions, Emily is grounded and calm.
Emily’s treatment foundation is evidence-based and customized to fit each client’s individual needs. Emily pulls from therapeutic techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Emily specializes in trauma recovery with teens and adults. She understands how the weight of past traumatic life events can show up in the present, leaving you feeling stuck and disconnected from the life you want. She honors the ways you’ve survived while helping you build new patterns that fit who you are today. With awareness of family dynamics, discrimination, and oppression, Emily offers a safe and compassionate space to begin healing and moving forward.
Emily is passionate in providing gender affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals exploring body image and gender expression. She recognizes how family history, cultural expectations, and systems of oppression can shape the way we feel in our own skin. Emily has experience supporting transgender and gender nonconforming clients in processing gender dysphoria and accessing affirming medical care. She offers a safe, compassionate space to honor your story and move toward a more authentic connection with yourself.
Emily is skilled in their work with adolescents and adults experiencing depression. Emily quickly helps you get unstuck by building practical skills to help you find motivation and build community. Emily helps you find hope in developing coping strategies, managing distress, and building a more meaningful, authentic life. By doing so, Emily will guide you through down moods, sadness, hopelessness, and low motivation.
