Meet our Therapists
Karin Kassab's Areas of Specialization
Karin Kassab is an advanced generalist and loves working with college students (especially UNCW and CFCC students) and individuals struggling with codependency, breakups, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. She isn't intimidated by complex situations involving borderline personality disorder, suicidality, or self-harm.
Karin also specializes in working with therapists, counselors, P.A.'s, nurses, M.D.'s, and other health care professionals. We call her the therapist FOR therapists. She has a keen awareness of the unique issues and stressors that often accompany heath care professionals. She also understand the importance of professionalism and extreme confidentiality when working with medical professionals. She believes that individuals in the heath care industry are often over worked, over stressed, and under trained in putting themselves first.
She is also very interested in helping busy business men/women, anxious entrepreneurs, and other stressed and pressured high profile clients. Growing up around her father's business and having starting her own business she has unique insight into the stressors and phases of business and entrepreneurship growth and development.
She has specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders (anorexia, ARFID, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder). She helps individuals with eating issues live more joyful and peaceful lives. She knows that successful treatment of and eating disorder requires care, compassion, and a lot of support. Consistent with her therapeutic approach, she treats eating disorders with (CBT) strategies aimed at improving client quality of life through enhanced cognitive and emotional awareness and regulation. In treatment of this population, Karin encourages a team approach to include clients, family members, psychiatrists, nutritionists, and primary care physicians working in collaboration to support clients during treatment.
Karin has a genuine passion for helping teens and college students find their path. She specializes in working with adolescents who are stressed, gifted/overachievers, behaviorally disruptive, angry teens, have low self esteem, impulsive, oppositional, defiant or inattentive at home and/or school. Her approach is three part: Introducing behavioral principals to increase the child's self-control skills, behavioral management for parents, and individualized reinforcement programs tailored to meet the needs of the child and family.
