"I'm passionate about helping individuals rebuild healthy relationships with food."-Kati Joyner
Kati's approach is different from a typical dietitian's. She uses a non-diet approach and creates a non-judgmental environment for clients to explore how eating habits contribute to overall health and wellness. She knows there's always an emotional component to eating issues. That's why she developed experience with various therapeutic techniques and incorporates them into her nutrition sessions. Kati is a great motivator and creates customized treatment plans for each client to ensure she is best supporting each person in meeting their nutritional goals. She's also been known to use innovative apps to support treatment goals. If appropriate, she offers creative services such as grocery store tours, food exposures, and restaurant outings.
Kati is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) as well as a CEDRD Supervisor and is passionate about working with individuals with eating disorders. She has much experience working with adults, adolescents, children, and families at various levels of care (Inpatient, Residential, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient) to increase healthy behaviors, decrease ED behaviors, and overall redefine their relationship with food. Through that experience Kati knows how difficult, sometimes seeming impossible, yet beautiful eating disorder recovery can be. She believes recovery is possible!
Kati began her career in 2009 working at The Renfrew Center in Charlotte, NC. Renfrew has been a pioneer in the treatment of eating disorders since 1985. She later relocated to Raleigh, NC and worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Veritas Collaborative in Durham, NC.
