  1. 123 Magic, Thomas Phlen. Fantastic parenting book for ages 2-12 years old…not magic. A must read book with valuable real life simple to execute parenting skills with no fluff. Great for parents, grandparents, teachers, babysitters, and literally anyone else with exposure to children.
  2. Codependent No More, by Melody Beattie.  Wonderful education on codependence, has a cult following. great read for everyone. I beieve it shouldd be required reading in high school. Must read now if you find yourself in relationships where you tend to give more than the other person, keep dating guys you feel you need to fix, try to control other people, feel like you always put others needs before yours, if you have a loved one with substance use issues,  or generally feel maxed out and taken advantage of in your relationships.
  3. The New Codependency, by Melody Beattie. Another great read for all. More recent publication date.
  4. Stop Walking on Eggshells, by Paul Mason. Very useful for the loved ones of those in constant crisis, engaging in self-harm, or suicidal behaviors and loved ones of individuals struggling with bordering personally disorder.
  5. Financially Fearless: Learnvest, by Alexa von Tobel. Many of my clients have financial stress. Even if they manage their money quite well they want to know where their money goes and make their money work for their lifestyle.  I am not a financial advisor, but I think this is a wonderful program. They also have an online program where you work with a virtual financial panner.  I have used it myself and recommend it often.
  6. The Relationship Cure, by John Gottman.  Valuable guide for those in committed relationships and married couples.
  7. Actually…ALL of John Gottman’s books on love/relationships. Seriously, all. They’re based on 40 years of couples research. The Gottman’s do remarkable work.
  8.  The 5 Love Languages, by Gary Chapman. This book is a must read or those on a self discovery mission and for everyone who is currently in or plans to be in a relationship (ehem…everyone). Also great for discovering ones wants and needs in a relationship.
  9. Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness, by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thich Nhat Hanh. Mindfulness 101 by THE original mindfulness gurus.
