Weldon “Wellie” Delmer, LMFTA
Born and raised in Georgia, Weldon, “Wellie,” brought her big-hearted energy and Southern charm to Wilmington in search of salty air, sunshine, and meaningful connection. In session, she’s joyful, patient, and easy to talk to. Wellie supports children of all ages, teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, and the emotional ripple effects of divorce.
Wellie’s treatment foundation is evidence-based and customized to fit each client’s individual needs. Wellie pulls from therapeutic techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, Play Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) to meet individuals right where they are
Wellie specializes in working with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety- particularly social and general anxieties! Whether it’s social nerves or everyday overwhelm, Wellie helps clients build confidence and calm through small steps that make a big difference. She’s especially skilled at helping kids and teens who are “overthinkers” or those who may express their worries through irritability and social withdrawal find their voice and feel more at ease in connection with others.
Wellie is passionate in her work with young children (ages 3+), adolescents, and adults who have experienced traumatic events and abuse of all kinds. Wellie helps people feel safe enough to sleep soundly at night and supports families in getting fewer midday calls from school about big emotions, behavior, or focus—lightening the load for parents and bringing more calm to everyone’s day.
Wellie’s heart is in working with families going through divorce. Wellie helps children, adolescents, and co-parents navigate the hard stuff—grief, transitions, tricky feelings—with empathy and clarity. She works to strengthen family bonds, ease depression, and help everyone feel more secure in their new routines and day to day lives.
Fun Fact: Wellie has worked on two Marvel Spider-Man movies and has a Great Pyrenees who is over 100lbs!
