Amanda Marmor, LCSWA

Amanda is a Colorado native who moved to Wilmington for graduate school and has been loving the coast! She specializes in working with both adolescents and adults experiencing grief and loss, anxiety, and with a history of childhood and family trauma. Amanda is a down-to-earth clinician whose playful and curious nature helps her clients feel at ease during sessions.

Amanda utilizes a collaborative approach to develop a treatment plan that is specific to each of her client’s needs. She uses techniques from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Amanda specializes in working with individuals experiencing grief and loss. There is no guide on how to grieve, and everyone experiences loss in their own way. Some people suppress their feelings, while others are overwhelmed by their sorrow, struggling to navigate everyday life. Amanda wants her clients to know that there is no “wrong” way to grieve and is there to help her clients navigate their unique and deeply personal experience with grief and loss. Using evidence-based practices, Amanda helps her clients honor their loved ones while rediscovering joy in life.

Amanda also specializes in working with individuals experiencing anxiety of all kinds. Anxiety can manifest in many forms, from generalized worry thoughts, to panic attacks, to avoidance, and more. We may start to feel that anxiety is running our lives – like we are in the passenger seat while anxiety takes the wheel. Amanda works with her clients to help them to understand their triggers, reframe unhelpful thought patterns, and find effective coping tools to regain control of their lives.

Amanda is passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma, especially childhood and family trauma. Survivors of childhood and family trauma can experience difficulties with interpersonal relationships, struggle at work and school, and suffer from their own mental health symptoms. Amanda utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help her clients heal and move towards a rewarding life filled with what matters to them.

Fun Fact: Amanda loves to travel and studied abroad in Sydney, Australia.
