Joelle Scholer, LCSW
Joelle Scholer is an Ohio native and has been calling Wilmington home for over 15 years. She specializes in working with couples. In sessions Joelle is full of go-getter energy that inspires trust and competence.
Joelle has completed Gottman Relational Therapy Training, based on over forty years of research, and is a forever student. As a certified Parent Coordinator and Triple P Parent Educator, Joelle backs her couples therapy interventions with years of knowledge of the health and human service systems and evidence-based approaches.
Joelle specializes in working with all couples in crisis – with a special concentration in infidelity recovery. Joelle is dedicated to guiding couples through the challenges of ‘putting the pieces back together’; when that seems impossible. She helps couples rebuild trust & communication after betrayal. Joelle’s belief in the possibility of healing drives her work, empowering couples to reclaim intimacy and strengthen their bonds.
Joelle is also passionate about working with disconnected couples. Maybe the disconnect is that the communication has become negative, or maybe the couple seems to be just occupying the same space, like roommates. Whether it’s a new baby or a mid-marriage bump, she helps couples when the romance is gone. When communication is reduced to:
“How was your day?…”
“Fine…”
*spends the next 5 hours on facebook avoiding conversation*
She helps couples go from “I can’t spend the rest of my life like this” to feeling hopeful about the future. She knows in couples counseling you ‘get out what you put in’ and her hope is to give disconnected couples a second chance.
Joelle empowers recently separated and divorced couples to achieve conscious co-parenting to prioritize their children’s well-being. She specializes in guiding parents through the challenges of navigating post-separation dynamics with mindfulness and compassion. As a certified Parent Coordinator, she helps parents establish effective communication strategies, set healthy boundaries, and cultivate a cooperative co-parenting relationship grounded in mutual respect. Joelle hopes to inspire and equip co-parents to build a foundation of stability and harmony for their children’s future.
Fun Fact: Joelle is a mother of 4 and a mural artist whose work is featured within the halls of multiple New Hanover County Schools.
