Alysa fell in love with this beach town while completing her postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and is passionate about working with adults navigating anxiety and OCD, exploring questions of faith, and untangling complex relationships with emotionally immature parents. In session, Alysa brings a warm, steady presence while also helping clients step into the harder, messier parts of their experience. Her grounded, “I’ve got you” energy creates a space where clients can settle in and do meaningful work.
Alysa’s approach is relational and collaborative in nature. She customizes each session to meet her client’s needs. Her work is anchored in evidence-based interventions including mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Concentrated Exposure and Response Therapy (CERP), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT).
Alysa is skilled in working with adults navigating anxiety that goes beyond everyday stress, with a strong focus on OCD. If your mind won’t turn off and you feel stuck in loops of overthinking, worst case scenarios, or needing things to feel “just right,” you’re not alone. This can look like intrusive thoughts about health, safety, or harm, or constant checking, reassurance seeking, and routines that are hard to break. Even when you know things are okay, your brain won’t let it go. Alysa is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a highly effective approach for anxiety and OCD. Alongside this work, she helps you build practical tools like mindfulness, self compassion, and steady routines that support you day to day. The goal is not to eliminate thoughts, but to help you feel more grounded, more in control, and able to create a life that feels balanced and fulfilling.
Alysa specializes in working with adults navigating religious or spiritual shifts, whether that means healing from harm within a faith community, managing tension with family, or considering stepping away altogether. These seasons can feel heavy. You might notice self doubt, loneliness, or a loss of connection in relationships that once felt certain. That loss of belonging can hit hard. Alysa offers a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. Together, you’ll make sense of your experience, reconnect with who you are, and begin building a life and community that truly fits you.
Alysa is passionate in her care with adults who were raised by emotionally immature parents and are now feeling the impact in their relationships, identity, and sense of self. You might find yourself people pleasing, overthinking every interaction, striving for perfection, or struggling to name what you actually feel or need. Relationships can feel confusing or exhausting, and even when things look “fine” on the outside, something inside still feels off. Alysa helps you slow down and make sense of these patterns without shame. Together, you’ll learn how to trust your voice, set clearer boundaries, and build relationships that feel steady, mutual, and real.
Fun Fact: Alysa loves volleyball and played competitively in college.
